Pen Underwriting welcomes Hannah Fry as Chief Operating Officer

Published On : 18 Dec 2024

Pen Underwriting today announces that Hannah Fry has been appointed Chief Operating Officer and will join the Executive team of the multi-class, multi-territory specialist underwriting and distribution business on 6 January 2025, subject to regulatory approval.

With 25 years’ insurance industry experience, Hannah has been Operations Director for the SME & Personal Lines division of Gallagher in the UK for the past five years, having joined in 2019 as part of the Stackhouse Poland acquisition. At Stackhouse, she was Director of Risk, Compliance and Central Operations, having begun her time with the broker 18 years prior to that as a Corporate Account Handler.

A seasoned operations professional, Hannah brings a strong track record in cross-functional collaboration, excellent stakeholder management, and increasing operational efficiency and effectiveness. As Chief Operating Officer, she will be responsible for ensuring Pen has the operational capabilities, flexibility and scalability to deliver on its strategic business vision and ambitious growth plans.

Commenting on Hannah’s appointment, Tom Downey, Chief Executive Officer of Pen Underwriting, said: “We are very much looking forward to welcoming Hannah into Pen and onto our Executive team in the new year in what is a pivotal role as we push forward with our ambitious growth plans. Having worked in the insurance industry at director level across risk, compliance and operations for many years, Hannah’s experience, knowledge and expertise are a great fit for Pen and will enable her to deliver positive customer, colleague and carrier outcomes across our operational priorities. Her energy and drive are the perfect pairing for Pen and our can-do culture.”

Hannah added: “Having watched Pen invest, expand and diversify as it nears its goal of becoming a £1bn GWP specialist underwriting business, it’s hard to think of a more exciting time to join the Exec as focus turns to the next phase of strategic growth. This is a fantastic opportunity to work with a passionate, high-performing team and with a business that has a real buzz around its One Pen culture. I’m looking forward to building on the operational foundations and enhancing capabilities to underpin future growth while embracing both the challenges and opportunities ahead.”
